We
are pleased to announce the four winners
(see

Associates Scholarship Award for the 2006-2007 academic year. We
had approximately 20 applicants and the selection process was very
difficult. All of the applicants are very accomplished and should
be congratulated!
This is the second year that
the physicians of Houston Allergy and Asthma Associates have
elected to offer four $1,000 scholarships to patients. The
eligibility requirements include graduating high school seniors
and college undergraduates or graduate students who are in good
academic standing and have been accepted by, or are currently
enrolled in an accredited U.S. college, university or technical
school. They must have been a patient of Houston Allergy & Asthma
Associates for a minimum of one year. All applicants also
submitted an essay on how their allergies and/or asthma and
treatment have affected their lives and described their academic
goals.

graduate of Brazoswood High School, will attend Texas A & M in the
fall. Christopher has led his peers in his positions as Drum
Major and baritone section leader for the Brazoswood Buccaneer
Band in addition to being Vice-president of the National Honor
Society. He has been active in various church and community
volunteer activities. Christopher’s goal is to obtain degrees in
architecture and construction science and to start his own
architectural firm.
Amanda Henson plans to
attend Texas A & M and major in biology after her graduation from
Clear Lake High School. Combining her love of physical fitness
and the human body, she eventually would like to obtain a degree
in physical therapy. While in high school, Amanda has been active
in the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, the
cross country and track team, dance, church mission trips and
volunteer activities. Amanda would like to spend one of her
college years studying abroad in a Spanish-speaking country.

National Merit Scholar, will graduate from Westfield High School
with her college goals to obtain dual degrees in studio art and
psychology and then pursue a master’s degree in counseling,
emphasizing art therapy. During her high school career, Sarah has
participated in swim team, National Honor Society, National Art
Honor Society, and Student Council. Sarah has received numerous
awards in art competitions and taken dual credit college courses
in addition to working part-time.
