Kristin A. Moore, M.D., FAAAAI
Dr. Moore joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in 1985. She is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where she also performed her internship and residency in internal medicine, in addition to her fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy and immunology.
Dr. Moore is a well-known speaker and teacher on both allergy and asthma. Her experience facilitating educational seminars on these topics, for parents and children in the community, has given her an increased understanding of family issues that complicate the treatment of these disorders.
According to her treatment philosophy, diagnosis includes giving patients the personal attention necessary to determine what lifestyle factors are influencing their disorder and thus the course of therapy. Dr. Moore is the mother of four children.
Kurt R. Peters, M.D., FAAAAI
Dr. Peters graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biology from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma, where his undergraduate research focused on cancer immunology. Following earning his doctorate of medicine, also from Oral Roberts University, he completed his internship and residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, in the department of pediatrics. He completed a fellowship in Allergy & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Peters joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in 1990 and is recurrently certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Peters is a frequent lecturer on allergy and asthma topics both locally and nationally. He has also served on the governing boards of the Greater Houston and Texas Allergy Societies as well as the Southern Medical Association. He volunteers as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at UT Houston School of Medicine where he assists in training young physicians.
Since Dr. Peters and his children suffer from allergic rhinitis and asthma, one of his greatest strengths as a physician is his ability to see the clinical picture from the patient's point of view, and to fashion practical therapies in an empathetic perspective.
Laura L. Somerville, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Laura Somerville is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She became a member of Allergy & Asthma Associates in 1992.
She received her bachelor's degree from Rice University and completed her doctorate in biochemistry at Yale University. Her research was supported by grants from the National Science Foundation. After entering medical school in 1982 at the University of Texas at San Antonio, she subsequently specialized in internal medicine. Her clinical training in allergy and immunology was completed in 1991 at Harvard Medical School.
In addition to publishing numerous medical papers on her research in allergy and asthma, she also teaches medical students and residents. Dr. Somerville's strength as an allergist is her ability to achieve a focused diagnosis, and then coordinate a workable, aggressive treatment plan with the patient.
Enrique T. Quintero, M.D., FAAAAI
Prior to joining Allergy & Asthma Associates in August 1995, Dr. Quintero was in private practice as an allergist/ immunologist. He is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.
Dr. Quintero received his medical degree from the University of Monterrey. He completed his residency at the Austin Pediatric Education Program of The Children's Hospital of Austin. Fellowships followed in adult and pediatric allergy/ immunology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and in pediatric pulmonary medicine at Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children's Hospital.
He has served as clinical professor of allergy and immunology at Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and Houston, where he participated in training residents in the area of allergy, asthma and immunology. He serves on the board of directors and Finance committee of the Memorial Hermann Hospital System and MHMD.
Dr. Quintero's advanced training in pulmonary medicine gives him an exceptional understanding of the clinical aspects of asthma treatment. He is married and has two sons.
Anthony J. Weido, M.D., FAAAAI
Dr. Weido joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in 1995. After being certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he became certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He has held elected board positions on the Greater Houston Allergy Society and the Texas Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology Society.
His bachelor's degree was earned with high honors at the University of Texas at Austin. He then received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was voted "Outstanding Senior Medical Student" by his classmates for his work with charitable organizations. An internship and residency was completed in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in allergy/ immunology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He has also published scientific and clinical papers on the diagnosis and treatment of allergies and asthma.
The American College of Allergy and Immunology honored Dr. Weido with the Proctor and Gamble Research Grant Award in 1995. Dr. Weido applies the same type of dedication to excellence in the treatment of his patients.
Dr. Weido and his wife live in the Houston area, as his family has for four generations.
Sanober M. Tamboli, M.D., FAAAAI
Dr. Tamboli emphasizes patient and family education as the cornerstone of a successful treatment program. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics. She joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in 1998.
Her medical degree was earned in Karachi, Pakistan, followed by internships in internal medicine and surgery. She completed a residency in pediatrics at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. In 1995, she completed her fellowship in allergy/ immunology at the internationally recognized National Jewish Medical and Research Center, formerly the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, in Denver, Colorado, the only medical and research center in the United States entirely devoted to respiratory, allergic, and immune system diseases.
Prior to joining Allergy & Asthma Associates, Dr. Tamboli practiced allergy and clinical immunology in a multispecialty group in the Houston area. Her goal in working with allergy and asthma patients and their families is to devise individual treatment plans that improve their quality of life.
Kelvin Shaw, M.D.
Dr. Shaw joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in September 2005. He is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine, and specializes in both pediatric and adult asthma, allergy, and immunology. Dr. Shaw received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and then went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio. Subsequently, he completed three years of residency in internal medicine at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where he received three Outstanding Teacher awards. He then completed his fellowship in allergy and immunology in the combined Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center/Cook County Hospital training program. Prior to joining Allergy & Asthma Associates, he practiced allergy/immunology in Dallas, Texas, for two years.
Dr. Shaw’s areas of special expertise include the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children, and adults with asthma, sensitivity to allergens, chronic sinusitis, urticaria, and the delivery of allergen immunotherapy. His general philosophy in medicine is tailoring treatments to minimize the impact of both disease and therapy on the lifestyles of his patients and their families so they can lead normal lives. Dr. Shaw is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He and his wife have two young children.
Robert S. Burress, M.D., FAAAAI
Dr. Burress is certified by the American Board of Allergy & Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. In 1998, he joined Allergy & Asthma Associates.
After graduating from Florida State University with a bachelor's in chemical science, Dr. Burress completed his doctorate at University of South Florida in Tampa. His internship and residency in internal medicine were performed at East Carolina University. He served as an internist in the Air Force and was decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. While in the military, he completed a fellowship in pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to joining Allergy & Asthma Associates he practiced pulmonary and critical care medicine at the West Florida Medical Center Clinic for six years. To better care for his patients with asthma, he returned to training in allergy and immunology at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Burress' training in pulmonology, allergy, and immunology brings a depth of knowledge regarding asthma and respiratory diseases to his practice. He believes that forming a partnership with his patients is the key to a successful treatment regimen.
Christine M. Kucera, M.D., M.S., FAAAAI
Dr. Kucera joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in 2000 and brings a rich background in teaching, research, and public relations to the staff. She is certified in both internal medicine and allergy/ immunology.
She is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa John A. Burns School of Medicine, and went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. This was followed by a fellowship in allergy/immunology at Northwestern University Medical School, where she became chief allergy fellow.
Having grown up in Hawaii, Dr. Kucera brings the spirit of the islands into her medical philosophy, which includes helping patients overcome illness to regain a better quality of life. Along with attention to detail, she believes in adding humor and a cheerful attitude to all that she does.
Dr. Kucera was a 1997 co-recipient of the Alan Feinberg Award given by the Illinois Society of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. She also donates her time to media interviews, as an expert on the diagnosis and treatment of allergies and asthma.
Robert L. Saunders, Jr., M.D., FAAAAI
A board certified physician in allergy/ immunology and also in internal medicine, Dr. Saunders added his expertise to Allergy & Asthma Associates in 2001.
Dr. Saunders completed pre-medical education at Mississippi State University and received his medical doctorate from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1972. Upon joining the Air Force, he completed his internal medicine training, including a year as chief resident, at Keesler Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi. After practicing Internal Medicine for several years in California, he completed a fellowship in allergy/ immunology at the University of California Davis Medical Center in 1995.
Dr. Saunders is qualified to treat both adults and children. He particularly enjoys the patient education process, and his goal is for his patients to enjoy the same life-style as their non-allergic/ asthmatic peers do.
He retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2007 with the rank of Colonel, is married and has two daughters and a stepson.
David M. Anmuth, M.D.
Dr. Anmuth joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in July, 2007. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. In addition, he is a member of both the American Academy and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
In 1998, Dr. Anmuth graduated with highest honors from Lehigh University located in Bethlehem, PA and received his medical degree in 2002 from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed a three year pediatric training at Thomas Jefferson University/AI Dupont Hospital for Children (Philadelphia, PA/Wilmington, DE) and then went to Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital where he performed a two year fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy/immunology.
During his training, Dr. Anmuth participated in several projects and lead presentations which focused on public health topics such as the effects of environmental tobacco smoke on childhood asthma and the relationship of obesity (body mass index) and asthma. In daily practice, Dr. Anmuth’s main goal is patient and family education. He strongly believes that proper awareness, guidance, and treatment will enable those with allergic disease to live fuller and more active lives.
Dr. Anmuth enjoys being active in the community and has been a Big Brother, a volunteer baseball coach, and an asthma camp counselor. He is married with one child and enjoys living in Houston.
Vikas S. Kancherla, M.D.
Dr. Kancherla joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in August, 2007. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is a Sugar Land native and received his undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist University. In 2002 he received his medical degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. During his training, he excelled in research involving disorders of the immune system, presenting his findings at various national conferences.
His recent two year fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology was completed at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX.
He enjoys working with patients of all ages and takes the time to educate and answer questions about allergic diseases.
Dr. Kancherla is married and is an avid Houston sports fan.
Ganesh Shanmugam, M.D.
Dr. Shanmugam joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in August, 2008. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Shanmugam is a native of College Station and graduated from Texas A&M University College of Medicine in 2003. At UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX he completed his internal medicine training in 2006 and his fellowship in allergy and immunology in 2008. While a fellow, he published several papers and presented research at several national conferences. He enjoys working closely with patients of all ages and educating them about their various conditions including allergies and asthma.
Dr. Shanmugam enjoys following and playing all sports in his free time and is a fervent Houston sports fan.
Sumit Bhutani, M.D.
Dr. Bhutani joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in September, 2008. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
A Houston native, Dr. Bhutani completed his undergraduate studies and graduated magna cum laude at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and then returned to the Houston area to complete his medical education at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Following his residency, he worked for a year as a hospitalist and completed his fellowship in allergy and immunology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. As a fellow and since starting private practice he published papers and presented research for several national conferences. He also volunteers at UT Houston as a clinical associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Bhutani treats both children and adults with asthma and allergic diseases in his practice. He excels in taking time with his patients to educate them about their disease, and informing them of all therapeutic options.
In his free time, Dr. Bhutani enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid fan of Houston sports teams and also enjoys all things related to food and wine.
Scott Oberhoff, M.D.
Dr. Scott Oberhoff joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in July 2010. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy & Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has served as an officer in the National Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residence Association.
Dr. Oberhoff was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in the Sugar Land area. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1998 with a degree in Microbiology and attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston. He then completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and his fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2010.
Dr. Oberhoff enjoys working with a diverse group of patients and treats both children and adults with asthma and allergic conditions. He strives to explain illness and treatment in a practical and approachable manner.
Dr. Oberhoff is married and has two children.
Gerald B. Kolski, M.D., Ph.D., FAAP, FAAAAI
Dr. Gerald Kolski recently joined Allergy & Asthma Associates with 30 years of Allergy-Immunology experience. Dr. Kolski is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Allergy-Immunology. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College, a Ph.D. from Purdue University and his M.D. from Cornell University. He completed his Pediatric residency at New York Hospital and University of Colorado Medical Center before completing a Fellowship in Allergy-Immunology at National Jewish Hospital in Denver.
Dr. Kolski has subsequently served as Clinical Director of Allergy at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Pediatrician-in Chief at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY, and most recently as Chairman of Pediatrics at Crozer Chester Medical Center outside Philadelphia.
Dr. Kolski has published extensively on allergies, asthma, and immune deficiencies. He has received numerous awards including the Trudeau and Millstone Awards from the American Lung Association and Points of Light Award from POL Foundation. He has been involved in Asthma Screening for the Healthy Hoops Program, a model intervention program for inner city asthmatic children. He has been voluntary Medical Director at Asthma Camps for Children over the past seventeen years.
Dr. Kolski and his wife are parents of triplets and have recently relocated to Texas to be closer to their family.
Duyen K. Nguyen, D.O.
Dr. Nguyen joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in November 2010. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Viet Nam. She immigrated to the U.S. with her family at the age of 18. Dr. Nguyen graduated summa cum laude from the University of St. Thomas, Houston, in 2000. She attended the first two years of medical school at Michigan State University and later transferred to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, where she completed her training in 2005. Dr. Nguyen completed her Pediatric residency and Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, in 2010. During her training, Dr. Nguyen participated in several volunteering works, including caring for children with HIV in Botswana, Africa, and treating children in Navajo Nation, New Mexico.
Dr. Nguyen's clinical interests include food allergy, asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, urticaria, and immunodeficiency in both adults and children. Providing compassionate care and being the patients’ strongest medical advocate is her primary goal. She is married and has two beautiful girls.
Deepa Verma, MD
Dr. Verma joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in August of 2012. She is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. She also holds memberships in both local and national medical societies.
Dr. Verma graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences and a Doctorate in medicine. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, followed by her fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic conditions, including nasal and ocular allergies, asthma, and skin conditions such as eczema and hives. She also evaluates and treats food and insect allergies. She truly enjoys treating both children and adults and loves spending time educating her patients about how to best address their asthma and allergy conditions. In Dr. Verma's opinion, the best care is provided by working with patients and their families to find optimal ways to treat her patients so that they can enjoy an improved quality of life.
In her free time, Dr. Verma enjoys baking, reading, and spending time with her husband, family and friends.
Doanh Nguyen, M.D.
Dr. Nguyen joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in July 2012. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy & Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston in Biochemistry and Biophysics in 2003. His medical degree was awarded in 2007 from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio followed by a fellowship training at the Division of Allergy and Immunology, Pediatrics at All Children's Hospital, University of South Florida in Saint Petersburg, Florida. His research focused on subcutaneous immunoglobulin replacement in primary humoral immunodeficiency patients and patients with eczema. During training he helped set up a specialized Atopic Dermatitis Clinic where a comprehensive and standardized approach to treat eczema was established.
Dr. Nguyen enjoys taking care of both children and adults with asthma, chronic sinusitis, chronic cough, urticaria and various allergic diseases such as food allergy, hay fever, and insect and drug allergies. He especially enjoys treating patients with severe eczema and primary immunodeficiency to help improve their quality of life.
Stephanie Regan, MD
Dr. Regan joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in November of 2012. She is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Regan is a native of Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 2002, and Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2006. She then moved to Dallas where she completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She remained at the University of Texas Southwestern for fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Regan enjoys caring for children and adults who suffer from asthma, immunodeficiency, and various allergic conditions. From personal experience, she understands how effective treatment can greatly improve the quality of life in those dealing with allergies.
Dr. Regan is married with one daughter. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family and her chocolate lab. She also enjoys traveling, relaxing outdoors, and exploring all that Houston has to offer.
Eugene M. Choo, MD
Dr. Choo joined Allergy & Asthma Associates in April 2013. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
A Houston native, Dr. Choo graduated with a degree in economics from Princeton University. He received his medical doctorate from Baylor College of Medicine in 2005. After finishing his fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at the University of Colorado/National Jewish Health in 2010, he stayed on as academic faculty for over two years at the prestigious National Jewish Health, voted #1 respiratory hospital in the nation, where he became an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Allergy/Immunology division. He lectured and published on numerous diseases, including refractory asthma, allergic rhinitis and tracheobronchomalacia. He is an active member and holds committee positions in both the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He has given lectures at the national annual meetings for both organizations.
Dr. Choo’s clinical interests include chronic sinusitis, immunodeficiency, food allergy, atopic dermatitis, and urticaria. He particularly enjoys working with patients with severe asthma and related diseases. He recently relocated to Houston to be closer to family and is an avid fan of music and Houston sports.
