Asthma
Spirometry is the most common of the Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), measuring lung function, specifically the measurement of the amount (volume) and the speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled or exhaled. It is an important tool used to help access asthma and COPD.
Xolair is a treatment option only for patients with high IgE levels and moderate to severe asthma. Xolair is an injection, similar to allergy shots, that binds the IgE and inactivates it. The injections help reduce the number of asthma attacks in people with allergic asthma who still have asthma symptoms even though they are taking inhaled steroids.
